The latest sprawling romcom/family drama from Richard Curtis way outlasts its charm.. To get to the parts that are un-terrible, you have to suffer through the most idiotic plot developments and ill-defined characters imaginable.. A mostly charming romance, leavened by deft comedy, interesting sidelights (there are a few wonderful jabs at the world of the British theater) and a lovely cast.. There's a lot of comic and fantasy potential here, but much of it gets squandered.. A soap opera of babies...
